The Northern and Eastern European Centre for Puppet Arts will open in NUKU
The Minister of Culture in Estonia, Mr Rein Lang will officially
open the Northern and Eastern European Centre for Puppet Arts (NEECPA) on 7
November at 20.00 in NUKU.
As a result of international activities of NUKU Theatre, Museum and
Centre, NUKU is going to become the puppetry network centre in Europe.
The main idea of NEECPA is to develope the network of organizations who
will show the use of puppet theatre as a means of development of intercultural
understanding between different nations. Through conferences and festivals the
collaboration between academic institutions and puppet theatres will be
promoted. In addition, important is to carry out different puppetry workshops
and puppet arts research works. One of the aims is to retain and introduce the
traditions and peculiarity of the puppet art in this region and through that
strengthen the local cultural identity.
The Centre will share the information about the members` activities
within the organisation to people interested in puppetry in the Northern and Eastern Europe.
The delegations of different puppetry institutions from 18 countries
over the world are expected to take part of the opening ceremony of the
Northern and Eastern Centre for Puppet Arts in Tallinn, NUKU.
