Renaud Herbin / FRANCE
A man introduces himself in a closed space. It is a large cylinder, from which escaping is difficult, although there are many attempts at it. But sturdy straps hold him back. Renaud Herbin presents here a variation on the notion of the puppet booth set-up, playing with ladders and the gravity of a suspended body.
Milieu is a new creation by Renaud Herbin, director of the TJP – Centre Dramatique National d’Alsace in Strasbourg. In 1999 Herbin graduated from the L'École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette (ESNAM, Charleville-Mézières). A characteristic of his creations is their unique visual language, often reflected in an original interaction of puppet, play, dance, sound and visual elements.
