The masterclasses are meant for theatre professionals - actors, directors, scenographs, designers.
The events take place on May 30 and 31 from 10-17 in NUKU theatre.
Paul Zaloom's A Theater of Trash
Zaloom opens with a short discussion of object theater and then invites each person to operate some of the assembled junk as puppets and environments in improvised performance events. Then we experiment with small groups doing these improvisations. During workshop we’ll discuss what we are learning about improvisation, free association, humor, child’s play as process, the nature of objects, and puppetry in general.
Fee: 100 euros. Registration via e-mail annika [at] nuku.ee
Polina Borisova's Puppet Prototyping
Today, we more and more often create in a constant transition between the stage and the ateliers, conceiving puppets in parallel with rehearsals, to offer them the best match to the project. Such conditions impose a great reactivity on a puppet maker, but also require some techniques of a "hasty making". This field could be explored on the example of a table-top puppet.
During two-days workshop we’ll propose a relatively simple technique for building of a puppet head. Its each step (design, sculpture, papering, painting) itself is a valuable experience, which could then be used in many puppetry techniques.
The workshop is fully booked!
